KIMPALE
In the artworks titled Kimpale, ceramics and glass emanate, bubbling and oozing, from a metallized mass. Platinum and gold are precious metals that can be found in nature in their pure form. The artworks have derived their shapes from gold nuggets found in the wilderness of Lapland. The lumpy form may also evoke the imagery of meteorites, after which I've named the piece Comet's Tail. Clay has not been forced into any specific form; instead, its shaping utilizes gravity and randomness, mimicking natural erosion. The base, being gilded, follows my design philosophy, where one listens to the materials and harnesses their inherent qualities. Gold is at its most beautiful when it gets to remain a chunk.
